UNA TRAYECTORIA ESTUDIANTIL. TESTIMONIO DE UN ACTOR.

Resumen

Los estudios cuantitativos de la matrícula universitaria dan cuenta del rendimiento, ingreso y /o egreso,

deserción, éxito o fracaso de los estudiantes. La información que se obtiene de estas lógicas cuantitativas es

global y no expresa las condiciones reales de evolución de la matrícula ni de la compleja situación de los

estudiantes. Por cierto, la importancia de los valores que arrojan estos estudios hace necesario que se investigue

acerca de cuáles son los factores que propician esas tendencias. En ese marco, el proyecto de investigación “Que

sí que no, este camino elijo yo”…un estudio de las trayectorias estudiantiles universitarias, se plantea entre sus

objetivos identificar componentes, rasgos, en los modos de transitar el recorrido académico, indagando sobre

intereses, dificultades y facilidades vivenciados en las experiencias universitarias, así como reconocer ritmos,

discontinuidades, regularidades en el rendimiento académico del alumno.

Este trabajo propuesto toma como insumo resultados alcanzados en estudios anteriores realizados en el ámbito

de la Universidad Nacional de San Juan acerca de las prácticas docentes y la formación de grado de estudiantes.

Esta ponencia procura centrarse en un análisis cualitativo de las trayectorias, se opta por ubicar al alumno en un

momento de su trayectoria universitaria en nuestro estudio, el año 2011 y observar restrospectivamente cuál ha

ido su recorrido en relación al currículo prescripto por la carrera y el tiempo de realización del mismo. Nos

ocupamos de la lectura comprensiva de su trayectoria, de la dimensión simbólica e ilustramos con el análisis e

interpretación de un caso.

Abstract

Quantitative studies of university roll account for performance, admission and/or graduation, dropout rates,

success or failure of the students. The information acquired from theses quantitative analysis is global and does

not show the real evolution of the roll either the complex situation of the students. In fact, the importance of the

values provided by these studies requires a research about which are the factors that promote these tendencies.

Within this framework, the research project, “What I do, what I don’t, this is my way to go”, a study of the

students’ university trajectories, sets among its objectives the need to identify components and features in the

way of going through the academic path, looking into interests, difficulties and easiness experienced during

university studies, as well as the recognition of pace, discontinuity and regularities in the students’ academic

performance.

This proposal is nourished by the results reached in previous studies in the context of The National University of

San Juan about teaching practices and undergraduate education of the students. This paper tries to focus on a

qualitative analysis of the trajectory; it attempts to locate the student at a certain moment of the university

trajectory of our study, the year 2011, and looks back over his/her path in connection to the curricula prescribed

by the career program and the time for its completion. We got engaged in a comprehensive reading of his/her

trajectory and the symbolic dimension, illustrating with the analysis and interpretation of a case study.
