Resumen
Abstract
I analyze here the specifi c ways that the last argen tine military government w as establis-
hed in local and regiona l contexts a round three fields in t ension and i n turn artic ulated:
space, identi ty and othern ess, memory an d forgetting . This paper aims to contri bute to
the analysis of the differ entiated ways that militar y government has exercised state terro-
rism an d cultu ral pol icies to wards indigeno us peop les. In the fi rst par t I des cribe how
the las t milit ary governmen t set o ut to find / produce in th is regi on the epic h istory for
their own “battles” through rituals and land management policies. Secondly I analyze the
politics of memo ry and the ways in which the pa st tried to be molded to fit t he needs of
the present. In the last p art, I refer t o the nation al community as was imagine d, molded
